As an active member of Toastmasters International since May 1981, Joe Jarzombek has served our members around North America.  He has served in various club and district-level positions in five different districts in three Regions.  He is the Past President of 9 different Toastmaster clubs.  He has served as a Public Relations Officer in four different districts, including serving as the District 27 Public Relations Officer when the district achieved #1 President's Distinguished District.

From 1992-1994 he served as International Director from Region 7, and he served as District 1 Governor from 1989-1990.  Yearly, he trains members and officers at various conferences and in Toastmasters Leadership Institute sessions.

He is currently the chairman of the District 27 Alignment and Transition Committee, a mentor to three district officers and two club officers, a member of the District 27 Marketing Team and Public Relations Team, a new club sponsor and mentor of Ballston Frontline Toastmasters Club, the Vice President Membership for Traveling TasteMasters Toastmasters Club, and a member of Lake Ridge Toastmasters Club that he co-sponsored in 1992 with his spouse, Sharyn Jarzombek, DTM.

Professionally, he is now the Director for Software Assurance within the National Cyber Security Division of the Department of Homeland Security.  In this role he leads government interagency efforts with industry, academia, and standards organizations in addressing security needs in work force education and training, more comprehensive diagnostic capabilities, and security-enhanced development and acquisition practices.  Joe served in the U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel in program management.  After retiring from the Air Force, he worked in the cyber security industry as vice president for product and process engineering.  Joe also served in two software-related positions within the Office of the Secretary of Defense prior to accepting his current DHS position.  He is a Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP).
